Hello guys this is another series of the electronics for the dumbest dummy
And today we will be talking about ICS, please follow cautiously and don't hesitate to drop your comment and questions or any contrary ideas.
2. Complementary mettalic oxide semiconductor type (CMOS).
2. (Dil) dual in line package.
3. (SM) surface mount ic package.
And most chips use this technology.
And today we will be talking about ICS, please follow cautiously and don't hesitate to drop your comment and questions or any contrary ideas.
(IC) INTEGRATED CIRCUIT.
An ic is an electronics component that serve a purpose of doing discrete jobs, and it mistimes contains two or one semiconductor doped together to form a new thin chip called if.Types of ic
1. Transistor transistor logic type ic (TTL).
2. Complementary mettalic oxide semiconductor type (CMOS).
DIFFERENT IC PAKAGES.
1. (sil) single in line pakage.2. (Dil) dual in line package.
3. (SM) surface mount ic package.
(SIL) PAKAGE IC .
Sil ICS are ICS in which their pins are all on one side as shown in the picture below. A very good example is the 7805cv IC, TDA series IC, and so on.(DIL) PAKAGE IC .
Dil ICS are ICS that has their pin on both sides as shown in the picture below. A very good example is the LM386 ic , 555 timer IC e.t.c.
(SM) PAKAGE IC.
Am ICS are IC that are surfacely mounted on the board and they are usually soldered to the board by machine as to the fact that they are usually small their pond are usually closely pakaged together , they are mostly used in industry rather than (DIY) do it yourself application. A very good place where they are used are in the phone circuit, laptops, radios, and other very portable devices. Also the picture as shown below.TTL integrated circuits (IC).
They are transistor technology typed ic and their input voltage usually range from 0-5v maximum. An example of TTL is microcontrollers e.g pic microchips, atmeg chips e.t.c.And most chips use this technology.
CMOS type ICS.
They are integrated circuits in which their input voltage usually range from 0-15v, although it varies. You might need to check the data sheet for that. Which we will still be getting back to. E.g 555 timer ic, Lm386 sound amplifier ic, e.t.c.IC NUMBERING AND PIN FUNCTIONS.
ICS usually have a notch, and the notch is tagged as the head, with that notch we start the pin numbering from the left side, then continues down to the right side till we get to the top as numbered in the picture below and that's for (dil) pakages and same for am pakages although there are some that really needs to be checked in the data sheet at beginner level , but as for sil pakage the numbering is from the left also but from the front left side to the right . ICS usually carry name which denotes the manufacturers name, date of production, and main ICS name and number. E.gKNOWING WHAT AN IC IS USED FOR IN ANY CIRCUIT.
You can know what an IC is used for by knowing its name or number.
Therefore just check the ICS body and you will see the part no, just add the part no .PDF at the back and the datasheet shows up. E.g ne555.PDF, bc547.PDF .e.t.c and the informations come out .
DATA SHEET
It is an information sheet that shows info about a particular component from the manufacturer and what the component is used for. Some even draw a circuit to show how it is to be connected and used for effective performance in a circuit.
